A GUIDE TO A SUCCESSFUL SHOOT

1. First Conversation

When you reach out, I want you to feel heard right away. I’ll ask a few simple questions about what you’re dreaming of — who will be part of the session, the feeling you want in your photos, and anything special you’d like me to know.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. I’m here to guide you from the very first chat.

2. Planning & Preparation

Once your session is booked, I’ll send you a short prep guide to help you feel completely ready.

  • Clothing tips. Soft, neutral colours and simple outfits tend to photograph beautifully. No need for perfect matching — just think coordinated and comfortable.

  • Location ideas. I’ll share places with soft, flattering light and peaceful surroundings. If you prefer something more personal, we can also shoot at your home.

  • Timing. I’ll recommend the best time of day for the kind of session you want — usually golden hour for outdoors, or daytime for cozy indoor sessions.

  • Practical details. How long the session will be, what to bring, and how to prepare kids (spoiler: not much!).

  • Reassurance. You don’t need to pose or perform. Kids don’t need to act perfectly. You can simply show up — I’ll guide the rest.

3. The Day of the Photo Shoot

My goal is to make the session relaxed, natural, and enjoyable.

When we meet, I’ll take a moment to connect with you and your kids, before the camera even comes out. You’ll know exactly what we’re starting with so there’s no uncertainty.

During the session, you won’t be asked to hold stiff poses. Instead, I’ll guide you with gentle prompts:

  • “Let’s take a slow walk together.”

  • “Hold your partner close.”

  • “Parents, let the kids explore for a moment.”

  • “Whisper something silly.”

These small actions help create natural, intimate moments — the kind that feel like you.

For families. Kids can run, wiggle, be shy, or be wild — it’s all part of the story. I work with the energy they bring, not against it. You don’t need to manage them; just enjoy the time together.

For couples. I’ll help you relax into the moment with movement, closeness, and simple cues that make the connection feel effortless and real.

4. After the Session

After we wrap up, I’ll send you a message to let you know how wonderful the session went and to give you a sense of what’s next.

You may receive a small preview so you can relive the moment while the full gallery is being prepared.

5. Editing & Delivery

Your photos are carefully edited in my timeless, intimate style — nothing rushed, nothing overdone. Generally around 2 weeks.

Once editing is finished, you’ll receive an online gallery that’s easy to view, download, and share. The images are curated to feel like a story — your story. You’ll also get both colour and black-and-white versions where it suits the mood.

6. After You Receive Your Photos

I’ll send you a warm thank-you, along with reminders about printing options and any next steps. If you’d like help choosing frames or products, I’m always happy to assist.

My hope is that you’ll look at your photos for years to come and remember exactly how that moment felt.
